Sarbox as a Presidential-election year issue

Do you think Sarbanes Oxley has legs as a political issue? Well, Rudy Giuliani has weighed in. He says he originally supported the law but has recently developed a more critical mindset. He says Sarbox certifications "serve no purpose" and the law ought to be revisited. I doubt that any of the top candidates will want to run with Sarbox-related issues. It's really not anything the public can get behind. My guess is that all will gravitate to a boring position: The law has served to protect investors in some regards and make ethics a corporate priority, but the excesses need to be curbed for the U.S. to remain financially competitive. Yawn.
