Finance opening doors for women?
The elevation of Indra K. Nooyi to CEO of PepsiCo makes her one of only 11 women who lead a Fortune 500 company. Rare air indeed. Lost in the hoopla is the fact that she was formerly the CFO. Despite some high-profile successes, women in general may be less likely than men to pursue a financial degree and career path. Still, those with a strong finance background are finding more doors open to them. And that's good news, no matter how you slice it. After all, a little experience in the Sarbox trenches never hurt anyone--increasingly, that's what companies are seeking.
