Some people say that Silicon Valley is back. The big companies are faring okay. And the dot.com bust has given way to a new surge in company creation and that is driving lots of Sarbox-related activity. One indicator is the recent news by Deloitte & Touche that it will expand its Silicon Valley technology team. The number of partners, principals, directors and staff is expected to rise to 1,200 by 2009 from 650 today. The office has experienced strong growth across the board. The office has also analyzed its compensation structure and will boost salaries over the next two years. To find appropriate talent, it has retained a handful of top recruiting firms. One could expect similar activity from the other top accounting firms. Another big target in general: The financial services industry in the Northeast.
